How to boil rice

Hi Universe.
My name is Maria. Today I decide to show you
how to boil rice. I tried in the past
so many kinds of rice but I kind of screwed up.
Some of them I over boiled. I keep too long on the stove
and they came out so sticky. Other times I even burned the rice.
So that’s why today I decided to show you how to make very easy.
To show you how to make boiled rice. And first I show you
what kind of rice I use. I use basmati rice
from the Himalayas. You need a strainer
to rinse the rice in cold water. Always in cold water.
I have here one cup of rice. Rinse until the water comes
almost clear. Okay.
Drain a little bit the rice like I do right now.
And put in medium sauce pan. Okay.
And now I am going to go to the stove and I need two cups of cold water again.
Two cups of cold water. I always measure my water.
Okay. Two cups of water.
About a quarter teaspoon of salt. And one tablespoon of oil.
Extra virgin olive oil. I mix everything together
like I do right now. And I am going to put on stove
for first time I put on high heat. Uncovered on high heat.
Uncovered until the water starts to boil.
After that I am going to lower the heat and
watch the rice for at least eight minutes.
And I cover for after is boiled
I cover and keep without heat for ten minutes.
Ten more minutes without heat. And after that you have
boiled rice. I am going to show you
how the rice looks when it is done.
So I stay by the stove and watch how the rice goes.
After the rice starts to boil real hard
I turn the stove on low heat and still stay by the rice
until it is done. When it is done
the rice will be, The pan will be almost full.
And I cover the rice for ten minutes. After that I am going to
show you when the rice is well done. When the rice starts to boil real hard,
I am going to mix one more time and after that I am not allowed to mix
the rice because they are going to break down. Now the rice starts to boil real hard and
from now I am going to keep this rice still uncovered on the stove
for about eight more minutes. Right now it is on high heat,
but pretty soon, You are going to see. Pretty soon
when the rice starts to boil really hard I am going to turn on medium high.
Okay. I am going to turn on medium high and I am going to leave
like this at least seven minutes. Now it is the last time
when I am allowed to mix the rice After this I am going to leave
at least six more minutes to boil. We have in here one cup of rice.
Two cups of water. Half a teaspoon salt.
And one tablespoon olive oil. The rice has to simmer like this
for five more minutes. until it absorbs all the water from the pan
I don’t cover the rice because I have bad experience with
it going over the pan. So I just cover it after I finish the whole
boiling. I cover and let stand for ten more minutes.
Now I am going to show you how the rice looks. There is still more water in there
so I am going to keep for at least two more minutes to boil
or simmer. Alright now I show you there is
no water any more in the pan like you see right now.
There is no water I am going to close the fire and heat.
Put off the stove and cover and leave in here for ten more minutes.
Leave on the burner for ten more minutes please.
With the fire off. It has been ten minutes and now
I am going to show you the rice. How the rice looks right now. Okay.
It looks very nice. It is not sticky. It looks very, very nice.
It is not too dry. Not too sticky. It looks perfect.
Okay. I am going to make some hot rice
with coconut oil on top. And I can eat like this.
You can eat rice with beans, vegetables, fish.
And you can make fried rice if you like. I am going to show you how to make fried rice. Maybe tomorrow. Thank you for watching. Bye-bye.
