RECOVERY EFFORTS IN THE BAHAMAS. AT PORT EVERGLADES TONIGHT, JOAN MURRAY, CBS 4 NEWS. JOAN, THANK YOU. AND CHEF JOSE AND DRESS’S WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN HAS BEEN WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK FEEDING THOUSANDS OF BAHAMIANS. IN OVER A WEEK, THEY SERVED MORE THAN 100,000 MEALS. TODAY ANOTHER SHIPMENT OF SUPPLIES WAS LOADED ON TO A YACHT. Reporter: ELIOTT AND FRANCES, THIS IS KIND OF LIKE A REPLENISH. MISSION. EVERYTHING GOING ON TO THE YACHT HERE UNDER THAT VESSEL WILL RESTOCK THE PANTRY FOR THE WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN. THE YACHT IS NOT COMPLETELY FILLED UP YET, BUT YOU CAN KIND OF SEE ON THE BOTTOM IN THE LOWER LEVEL, THAT’S WHERE ALL THE FOOD IS BEING STORED FOR SHIPMENT. ON THE UPPER LEVEL THERE, THAT’S WHERE ALL THE WATER IS. YOU CAN SEE A BIG TANK THERE. IT’S A 1,500-GALLON WATER TANK THAT’S GOING OVER THERE. THEY WERE TRYING TO LEAVE BY AROUND 7:00 TONIGHT. THAT’S BEEN PUSHED BACK NOW TO MIDNIGHT. . IT’S DAY-LONG JOB, LOADING UP THE MEGA YACHT GLOBAL. IT’S CARRYING FOOD, WATER, AND SUPPLIES TO CHEF JOSE ANDREAS IN FREEPORT AND HIS WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN ORGANIZATION. WE’RE GOING TO BE PUTTING ON THIS VESSEL ANOTHER 100 PLUS TON OF FOOD. WE’VE GOT OVER 100 PALETTES OF FOOD PRODUCT AND PAPER PRODUCT COMING ON SO THAT WE CAN GET PROTEIN AND INDIVIDUAL TAB INTO THE FIELD. Reporter: THE WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN HAS ALREADY SERVED 10S OF THOUSANDS OF MEALS TO THOSE IN GRAND BAHAMA AND ABACO. SOUTH FLORIDA FIRST RESPONDERS HELPED DELIVER THEM AFTER PICKING THEM UP FROM CENTRAL KITCHENS. NOW THROUGH OAR TRYING TO MAKE MEALS ON SITE. WE’RE GOING TO DO POP-UP KITCHENS, BUT WE’LL BE USING PAYA PANS. SO EVERYTHING WE’RE USING HERE IS SO WE CAN GOT OUT AND RAPIDLY FEED PEOPLE. IT’S A LOT OF HARD WORK TODAY. IT’S NOT HARD. NOT HARD WHEN YOU’RE HELPING PEOPLE. Reporter: CAPTAIN JOHNNY ROBINSON FROM FORT LAUDERDALE FIRE RESCUE VOLUNTEERED TO HELP LOAD THE YACHT ON HIS DAY OFF. HE WAS JOIN BY FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS, AND FORT LAUDERDALE POLICE OFFICERS WHO ANSWERED THE CALL. IT’S WHAT WE SIGN UP FOR. ULTIMATELY, WHEN YOU DO THINGS THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN BENEFIT FROM, IT’S A GOOD FEELING. IT’S A GOOD WARM FEELING. IT’S HUMAN NATURE INSIDE US THAT WE CONNECT TO. WHEN I HEARD THAT OUR FIRST RESPONDERS WERE VOLUNTEERING ON THEIR DAY OFF, HOW COULD I NOT? Reporter: CHRISTINA CLIFFORD ANSWERED THAT CALL FOR HELP, TOO. SHE AND THE OTHERS ARE GIVING IT THEIR ALL, LOADING THE CON TENTS OF EIGHT SEMITRAILERS ON THE SHIP. WE LAUNCHED A LOT OF FOOD ON THIS BOAT, A LOT OF SUPPLIES, FORKS, PAPER GOODS, ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU KIND OF TAKE FOR GRANTED, ESPECIALLY UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES LIKE THIS. Reporter: WITH EVERYTHING PACKED AND LOADED, THE FOX AT THE WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN ARE FEELING GRATEFUL THEY CAN CONTINUE TO SERVE THOSE WHO NEED THEIR HELP THE MOST. THANKS, FLORIDA. THANK YOU. Reporter: SO STILL LOADING ITEMS ON TO THE YACHT RIGHT NOW. THE ORIGINAL DEPARTURE TIME WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT 7:00 THIS EVENING. THAT HAS NOW BEEN PUSHED BACK TO AROUND MIDNIGHT. THE ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO GET TO

  1. Prayers to the Bahamas🙏😇Call your State Reps and tell them to let the Bahamians into USA til their islands are rebuilt. USA is now turning away Bahamians who dont have their Visa or Passport which was destroyed when their houses blew away by Hurricane Dorian.
